Female corps member dies from abortion procedures

A female corps member, identified as Victoria Ariyo, serving in Abeokuta South Local Government, has been reported dead following complications from abortion procedures

Penpushing reports that she was said to have allegedly terminated her pregnancy and died from complications, while her remains were reportedly buried at Kobape Cemetery located along Kobape-Sagamu Road in Abeokuta.

The death of Ariyo, sources said comes barely a month after another female corps member, Mary Adeleye lost her life in mysterious circumstances, just as unconfirmed source added that, a suspected boyfriend of the deceased has been arrested

Penpushing further reports that Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident, explaining that investigation into the death had commenced, but was silence on whether arrest made or not in connection with the death

“I can confirm that the case of the demise of Victoria Ariyo is under investigation by the state Criminal Investigation Department’, Babaseyi emphasized

Penpushing also reports that on Adeleye, equally serving in the same Abeokuta South local government, was said to be observing her one-year mandatory service in a television station in Abeokuta before her sudden demise.

“The first lady, Mary, died at her residence, which is not far from her PPA. They found her lifeless body in the apartment, up till now, nobody can tell the cause of her death. Both deceased corps members were said to be friends’, a source said.

“However, Victoria, who was buried on Tuesday, was said to have died from complications arising from an abortion procedure. We also gathered that an NYSC official who was believed to have been in a romantic relationship with the late Victoria, which eventually led to the pregnancy and the subsequent abortion, has been picked up by the police from state command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta”, the source added

Penpushing reports that the Public Relations Officer of Ogun State National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) Emmanuel Igba, was quoted saying he was not aware of the incidents, claiming he had been on leave and wouldn’t resume until April.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Mrs Olayinka Nasamu, could not be reach as at the time of filing this report
