Your supporters are promoting falsehood, Obasanjo tells Tinubu
Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has declared that the supporters of Presidential Candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu are promoting falsehood over his (Tinubu) recent visit to him
Penpushing reports that, Tinubu had last Wednesday paid a visit to Obasanjo at his Penthouse located in the premises of Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, accompanied by some chieftains of the ruling party.
The closed door meeting held between the duo and selected number of the party chieftains was not made public, and about 48 hours later Obasanjo explained that, he only took time to crack jokes with his visitor, but a ‘cooked up’ story later emerged from some of Tinubu’s loyalists and gave impression that the former President adopted his(Tinubu) candidacy
Penpushing further reports that, in reaction to the concocted report, Obasanjo issued out a statement and expressed dissatisfaction with the unauthorized report of the discussion at his meeting with the party presidential candidate
The Speaker House of Representatives Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila who was one of those who accompanied Tinubu on the visit was said to have told journalists in Lagos that Obasanjo made encouraging statements about Tinubu’s aspiration and even assured Tinubu of victory at the polls.
Penpushing also reports that, Obasanjo in a statement credited to him said it was tissue of lies, adding that the statements coming from those claiming to be supporters of Tinubu are unhelpful, stressing that the visit was more brotherly than political.
The statement emphasized that Obasanjo said those claiming to be insiders at the meeting and behind the falsehood statement credited to him are enemies of Tinubu, and not doing the visit any good
“Those claiming to be insiders at the meeting issuing statement on the discussion and those crediting to me statement I had not made are enemies of the visitor and are not doing the visit any good”, Obasanjo stressed
