Woman sets female police officer, two children ablaze in Anambra state

A woman Nnaemaka Nwosu, has allegedly set a female police officer and her two children ablaze at Nnokwa, a community in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, a crime said to have been committed on Sunday.

Penpushing reports that the suspect who hails from Amawbia, another community in the Awka South Council Area of the state, became homeless after her husband divorced her, and consequently approached the police officer, who offered to accommodate her out of compassion.

The sources from the community said on the fateful day, the suspect had a disagreement with the officer, which made her attack the victim with part of a grinding machine before setting her and her two children ablaze.

Penpushing further reports that a resident of the community, identified as Chukwuma Ejiofor, said as at the time of filing this report that the cause of disagreement was unclear to residents of the area, adding that the woman having committed the crime attempted to run away but was apprehended by villagers

The resident explained that the villagers later handed over the suspect to the vigilante operatives, adding while being held she claimed, it was a gas cylinder that exploded and caused the fire that killed the officer and her children but later confessed that she was the one who carried out the act.

Penpushing also reports that the Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident, adding that the police was in custody while the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for investigations

“Preliminary information reveals that the woman police accommodated the suspect while she was searching for a house. The two women had a disagreement which resulted in a fight before the suspect hit the woman police on her head with a piston. While she became unconscious, she tied her with her two kids and set them ablaze’, Ikenga said

Penpushing reports that the police spokesperson, a deputy superintendent of police said the bodies of the victims had been deposited in a morgue as at the time of filing this report on Monday evening
