Unknown bandits set Igboho’s house on fire, says Police

The Oyo State Police Command said on Tuesday that unknown hoodlums were responsible for the fire incident which gutted the home of Sunday Adeyemi popularly called ‘Sunday Igboho, located in Soka area of Ibadan.

Penpushing reports that the Command Public Relations Officer, Gbenga Fadeyi said the runaway hoodlums arrived the house in the early hours of Tuesday in a Hummer bus and Micra firing sporadically, and later set the house ablaze.

The police spokesman added that the mini sitting room of the house got burnt in the process while naira value of other properties burnt are yet to be estimated, disclosing that the command is now on the trail of the suspects.

Penpushing further reports that, Fadeyi said, immediately the Divisional Police Officer of  Sanyo Division got wind of the incident, contacted fire service and also raced to the scene for on the spot assessment, adding  that the fire was eventually put off to stop further damages.

The fire incident occurred barely few days after  Igboho ejected herdsmen from Igangan community over series of killings of residents and indigenes by the Fulani herdsmen, while the Seriki of Hausa in the community, Alhaji Salihu Abdukadir was accused of harbouring criminal herders who have been killing and maiming people of Iganagan, Ibarapa area of the state, but he denied the allegations

Penpushing  also reports that, the Seriki also explained and claimed  that members of his community have also been victims of the criminality perpetrated by kidnappers and other outlaws.
