Oyo State Police Command foils abduction by suspected kidnappers in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command on Sunday said that it has thwarted attempt abduction of some people by suspected kidnappers in Akinyele local government area, Ibadan, the state capital.

Penpushing reports that this was contained in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Adewale Osifeso, which was made available to journalists, stating  that some suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The Command spokesman who disclosed that, investigation has commenced to further unravel cause of the incident, the local hunters, vigilantes in collaboration with the police foiled the suspected herdsmen kidpa attempt

“An abduction was foiled by the Command Operatives attached to Moniya Divisional Police Headquarters in collaboration with vigilantes and local hunters upon the strength of a distress call received at the early hours of Saturday 10/07/2021’, he said.

“So far, arrests have been made while comprehensive investigations are ongoing to apprehend other culprits linked with the foiled abduction. Meanwhile updates would be provided soonest, please,” Osifeso said in the statement.

Penpushing further reports that suspected Fulani herdsmen, numbering about seven, allegedly shot a village youth leader at Akinkunmi village in Akinyele local government area of the State, a village  close to Kara market where cattle, rams and other livestock are being sold.

The Command spokesman said, thereafter  the  suspected Fulani herdsmen attempted to kidnap two people on Saturday, adding that, one  of the victims escaped and ran to Akinkunmi village to seek help,and in the process of the youths to fish out the alleged kidnppers three of the youths were shot and receiving treatment in the hospital, as at the time of filing this report.
