University college hospital to construct medical centre at corpers camp

The University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan has disclosed that it would established a medical centre at the Oyo State National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) Orientation Camp at Iseyin, a project said to be one of the four medical centres to be built at orientation camps across Nigeria,

Penpushing reports that, Chief Medical Director of the institution, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo made this known when he led the management of the hospital to hand over the site  to the contractor.

The Medical Director said, “we are always ready to render excellent medical services to Nigerians’, noting that the centre in Iseyin will serve the corps members, staff and the immediate community.

Penpushing further reports that, Otegbayo pointed out that though the funds available are meagre, but assured that it will be utilized judiciously and that the first phase of the project will be completed in 12 weeks.

The hospital boss however charged both the project consultants and the contractor to do the job according to specification stating that the management of the hospital will frown at any shoddy job done on the site.

Penpushing further reports that in her remark, the Oyo State Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Grace Ogbugebe thanked the Federal Ministry of Health, management of the hospital for taking the effort to build the medical centre.

The Director noted that she will be monitoring the project to ensure that it is built according to specification, explaining further that with the construction, the present clinic at the camp will be used as hostel to accommodate more corps members posted to Oyo State for the mandatory one year national service.

Penpushing also reports that, the project consultants and the contractor promised to do a good job and also to deliver to time, while it is also on record that, the authorities of the hospital on Monday, 1st June, 2020 handed over the painting of the hospital’s wards to contractor who will paint the wards with mosquito repellent paints.

The Medical Director, said the hospital has been playing the leading role in combating the spread of the coronavirus, and will continue to render excellent care and services to all our patients, and  equally enjoins everyone to adhere to the required infection prevention and control measures prescribed by the World Health Organisation(WHO) and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC), such as physical distancing, regular hand washing, use of hand sanitizers and face masks.
