Alaafin’s impact cannot be forgotten in Yoruba land – Gani Adams

The Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams has said that the impact of Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi cannot be forgotten in Yoruba land, saying that the monarch remain symbol of democracy to Yoruba nation

Penpushing reports that Adams said this on Thursday in Oyo town, while speaking at the 82nd birthday anniversary of the first class monarch, stressing, “the role of Alaafin in uniting Yoruba’s across the world cannot be underestimated, his impact has transverse across the globe;.

“We are here to celebrate with the imperial majesty on his 82nd birthday, and we are here to pay homage to him, this is the seat of power to Oyo empire and the most historical palace in Yoruba land’,Adams said

“Its a pleasure to come and felicitate with him, all Nigerians know that things are not going in the right direction in the country, all institutions are not functioning well and our policies is not going to the right direction’

Penpushing further reports that, Adams  added that “this was not the democracy we fought for in 1960, I was one of the people that fought for this democracy, but its sad that things are now turning against us’

The son of the monarch, Hon. Akeem Adeyemi representing Afijio/Atiba, Oyo East/Oyo West in the Federal House of Representative, said that some project were commissioned to commemorated the birthday anniversary of the monarch.

Penpushing also reports that, the federal lawmaker explained  that those projects were targeted on improving the knowledge of the students in information and Communication Technology to support the state government, and these include the ICT center at Olivet Baptist High School, Abiodun Atiba Memorial Secondary School, and ADS Grammar School at Opapa, Oyo

The royal father  while speaking with journalists thanked his chiefs for their support, saying that ‘its worthy to be thankful attaining my age, and protecting the image of our forefathers, called on Nigerians to pray for Nigeria so that the nation can be great again make the country
