Two university students found dead in their room
Two male undergraduates of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike in Abia State, identified as Victor and Chinonso Edeh, otherwise known as Decency have been found dead in their room outside the campus.
Penpushing reports that, the 200 level students, one of them, Edeh, said to be an officer in his departmental association, was seeking re-election, in the scheduled election expected to take place next week
The source said the students died after eating food reportedly bought by an unidentified commercial motorcyclist on Friday, with Victor reportedly vomited blood, and Edeh had white substance in his nose, fueling speculations they might have been poisoned.
Penpushing further reports that, the source said, when the duo did not wake up the next morning, neighbours forced their door open and discovered their bodies, with, Edeh’s body on the bed while Victor’s body was on the floor.
The University Public Relations Officer, Adanma Odefa, confirmed the incident, but said the authority was not aware of the food reportedly bought for the victims by the unidentified motorcyclist, adding that what was known was that their corpses were found in their rooms
Penpushing also reports that, Odefa explained that the police in the state have taken their bodies to the morgue and that the institution management has informed the families of the deceased about the incident.
The Abia State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Geoffrey Ogbonna, when contacted said the police have launched investigation into the incident, adding that the bodies have been deposited in the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
