
Senator Salisu empowers students with educational materials

The Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District at the National assembly Senator Shuaib Salisu on Friday empowered students of the Senatorial district with distribution of educational materials to encourage them in their academic activities.
Penpushing reports that the distribution meant for secondary school students took place at June 12 cultural centre Kuto Abeokuta with hundreds of the students as beneficiaries accompanied by their teachers, and witnessed by educational stakeholders.
The educational materials distributed include textbooks, writing equipment, school bags Mathematical Set, 80 Leaves of exercise books, SS1 Mathematics textbooks, SS2 Mathematics Textbooks and SS3 Mathematics Textbooks
Penpushing further reports that other materials are SS1 English Textbooks, SS2 English Textbooks, SS3 English Textbooks, Past Questions/Answers Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) and past questions/answers West Africa School Certificate Examination (WASCE), Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE), National Examination Council (NECO) and laptop as well as scholarship to some of the students
The donor earlier in his speech emphasized the importance of education and empowerment, explaining that the provision of the educational support materials is to encourage students to excel in their academics.
Penpushing also reports Salisu who is the Chairman Committee on Information Technology (ICT) and Cyber stressed that education is key to empowering individuals, families, and society at large.
The federal lawmaker enlightened students of public schools not to see themselves as been disadvantaged, rather they should be focus and committed to their education to be relevant in the society.
Penpushing reports that he said the support is not limited to just providing materials but equally includes monitoring students’ performance, providing platforms for them, and supporting them throughout their educational journey
The Nigerian Senator added that he is planning a youth engagement program focused on character development and empowering young people with positive role models, as well as plan to organize a program to support and reward teachers in the senatorial district.
‘It’s essential to provide youth with meaningful opportunities and roles that allow them to build on their strengths, take on responsibilities, and contribute to decisions that affect them and others’, he stated.
Penpushing further reports that Salisu also announced plan to organize a seminar to support journalists in the senatorial district, acknowledging roles of the media in the society, hence, need to appreciate them
