Two die in Lagos-Abeokuta expressway toll gate road crash
Two persons which include a motorcyclist and pedestrian have been confirmed dead and two others injured in a crash involving a truck with registration number T-14223LA and Honda Bajaj motorcycle at tollgate along Lagos- Abeokuta expressway Ota inbound Lagos.
Penushing report that an eyewitness account said the truck experienced break failure while on motion and rammed into two stationary motorcycles parked beside the road killing the motorcyclist said to be sleeping on the motorcyle and a pedestrian standing by the roadside.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Road Traffic, Babatunde Akinbiyi who also confirmed the incident in a statement said the truck driver and the motorboy ran away from the scene to avoid been attacked.
Penpushing further reports that Akinbiyi disclosed as at the time of filing this report that, the accidented truck and motorcycle had been deposited at Sango Police Station for further investigation while the dead female victim has been taken away by her family members for burial.
The agency spokesperson added that the body of the dead male motorcyclist had being deposited at General Hospital morgue in Ifo in Ifo local government area of Ogun State, and that the other injured victims were rescued by good Samaritans to an unknown clinic before the arrival of first responders.
Penpushing also reports that the statement said the agency commiserated with the families of the deceased, and advised drivers, particularly articulated drivers to service and maintain their vehicles always before setting out on a journey in view of its attendant consequences.
The statement, however, added that the traffic initially affected had been restored by the officials of the Ogun State Traffic Agency, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Police as at the time of filing this report.
