Three die as bus plunges into river along Ijebu-Ode-Ore expressway

Three people were on Saturday morning killed in an auto crash involving a Toyota Sienna bus with registration number APP830HX at J4 Omo River axis along Ijebu-Ode-Ore expressway, as well as one other reported to have sustained injury when the bus plunged into river

Penpushing reports that Chief Route Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Command Florence Okpe who confirmed the incident in a statement said as at the time of filing this report, number of people involved in the crash was still uncertain

‘The crash occurred at about 1155hrs this morning at J4 Omo River on Ijebu-ode – Ore expressway. Number of people involved uncertain. Number injured 01 and 03 persons were found death all male adult. 01 vehicle was involved with registration number APP830HX a Toyota sienna bus’, she said.

Penpushing further reports that Okpe said the suspected cause of the lone crash was excessive speed which led to lose of control and the vehicle plunged into Omo river, adding that the injured victim was taken to Hope Clinic J4 for medical attention while the corpses were deposited at the state General Hospital morgue Ijebu-ode

The statement said Sector Commander of the Command, Anthony Uga described the crash as an avoidable one if caution was considered, and further reiterated on speed violation among motorists especially the commercial vehicle on that route

Penpushing also reports that Okpe added that the Sector Commander appreciated the effort of the local divers for the rescue operation, also sympathize with the family of the victims and advised to contact Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogbere out post for more information about the crash
