Those peddling news of split in Nigeria Union of Journalists are blackmailers, says union’s leadership

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), South-East Zone has disassociated itself from a purported story emanating from the zone, that the union has splited into two factions, adding that the fake news is figments of the authors

Penpushing reports that, the union said there is no iota of truth in the circulated fake news in a social media report linked to a junk online blog allegedly owned by a frustrated journalist, who turned the blog to instrument of blackmail

The statement signed by leadership of the zone, explained that, the frustrated journalist behind the unfounded story, was sacked from Sun Newspapers for un-professionalism and character deceit, and known as blackmailer and serial losers.

‘He is being pushed by frustration. A man that fights at all levels including domestic fronts. And he is a serial loser! Ordinarily, the fake news couldn’t have merited any response but for the sake of the unsuspecting public’.

Penpushing further reports that, the statement called on the public to discountenance the fake and malicious mumbo-jumbo by the author and his sponsors, noting that the antics of the author and his co-travelers are well known.

‘As this is their usual strategy of trying to muddle the water each time a national election of the union is around the corner. But like they failed before, the same unmitigated failure awaits them again! Not even the series of instigated law suits will distract our performing national President, or detract from his trail blazing leadership of the union’, the zone stated.

The statement added that, the zonal leaders said further investigation showed that the author and a faceless protem secretary of non-exist association as claimed by them, are known unserious characters

Penpushing also reports that, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) emphasised that the baseless report was only figments of their frustrated imagination and the last kick of a dying horse, adding that the union under the leadership of Chris Isiguzo is intact across the country.

‘The Nigeria Union of Journalists under the leadership of Chief Chris Isiguzo is very much intact as he continues to enjoy the support and solidarity of members as exemplified by an overwhelming vote of confidence passed on him by leaders of the union across the country during the April 16, 2021 National Executive Council (NEC) meeting at Asaba, Delta State’.

The zone called on the national leadership of the union to give appropriate action against the actors behind the fake news, who they described  black legs and prodigal sons, and will not give up in efforts to rein them in for rehabilitation.
