THERE IS EVIL AGENDA BEHIND PROPOSED HATE SPEECH BILL, SAYS LAOSUN

The African Action Congress (AAC) flagbearer   noted that it has been a practice of All Progressive Congress (APC) led government to actually downplay what the judiciary decides; stressing that Sowore’s stand is a fight for all Nigerians.

Hear him, “This is a big problem for our nation, not just for Sowore alone or for any individuals, the government is going nowhere and the nation will remain stagnant in any country where judiciary system has been over-ruled by the government, it means that anybody can just decide to do whatever he want and the rule of law doesn’t counts.”

“Looking at this APC led government, we found out that it is a scam and a fraud because it is not about the people of Nigeria, its kind of sectorial, it is just for few individuals, not for the people of the country, we stood for a change in 2015, but now, what we got is distasteful and this is not what we want.”

“There is an evil agenda behind the hate speech, Our party is not in support of hate speech bill, although there are similar bills in some countries of the world, but these are inwards countries, the hate speech bill shouldn’t have seen the light of the day in Nigeria but is was shocking that the bill scaled through the first reading at the National Assembly, this means that those we elected into government has nothing to do with the government.”

Penpushing further reports that, Laosun while talking on efforts made by his party  to facilitate the release of Sowore,  explained  that the party has hired one of the top activist lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) who is in charge of the proceedings, and from all the court proceedings and judgment that they have had, Sowore has been granted bail, but the Federal Government deliberately not let him go.

“May be their own dividends of democracy is to guards people who object their wrong doing. We are doing everything on our own side to facilitate his release but unfortunately, we are limited with funds, you can see in the last protest staged to demand for his release, people were beaten, arrested and even imprison, all of us should be scared of what can happened tomorrow, it means that if I stand for what is right for the nation, I could be incarcerated and put in detention as long as the government of the day last.”

“We shall not relent on our efforts in making sure that the kind of Nigeria we desire comes to reality. The purpose of the meeting is borne out of my promise since after the last election that our party, the AAC will and be a leading voice in monitoring the action and activities of the government as it relates to the running of our dear State’.

‘ I want to reiterate that I will never engage in politics of vendetta, blackmail and mudslinging, my intentions and interest as a concern indigene still remains putting the interest and development of our state and our people first, ahead of any and every other thing’.

Penpushing also reports that Laosun maintained that having observed the decisions of the State Government in the last six months, he would like to give his views as a concerned citizen in some areas which include: the needs for the improvement of allocation to the agricultural sector, adding that the state government need to put in place quality and monitoring system to ensure that the budget is well implemented to the highest quality possible.

The politician reiterated further that there is a need for transparency on the contracts been awarded and the government has to lead by showing accountability and hopefully that will permeate down the strata of government departments.

“It is too early for us to start rejoicing on all that is has been proposed considering that we are still short of United Nation’s recommended budgetary allocation to education. Also, knowing that no amount is too large to be mismanaged as we have seen with previous administrations even a PDP led government.”

“I want to add that our public schools are in a state of disrepair. The government must do a lot my with the budget to tackle poverty, hunger and overall present a viable economic growth development plan that would boost the affairs of our state.

“The government must put the right funding so that the youths can be meaningfully engaged aside from politics so that his promises to the youths and next generation can be well seen. Government should give a higher priority to aged and workers who are retired and nearing retirement in the payment of their gratuity and pensions instead of allowances that are not sustainable.”
