Royal family appeals to Obasanjo, Governor Abiodun to intervene in plots to install foreigner as next Ogunmakin monarch

The royal family of Ogunmakin town in Obafemi-Owode local government area of Ogun state has passionately called on former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Governor Dapo Abiodun to come to their aid, towards plot of some forces to deny them the vacant stool of the ancient community.

Penpushing reports that the family led by Adeyemi Ogunmakin and Kazeem Ogunmakin made the appeal at a press conference held on Friday at the conference room of Penpushing Media in Leme axis of Moshood Abiola way, Abeokuta.

The family who affirmed that the progenitor of the community was Ogunmakin, their forefather, emphasized that despite glaring evidences that the family is a ruling house which has right for one of them as the next monarch after the demise of Oba James Sodiya, alleged that plans were ongoing by some elements to sideline them.

Penpushing further reports that Ogunmakin family pointed out that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere, and that injustice to one is injustice to all, disclosing that a petition has equally been sent to the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo over the issues

‘We are using this platform to appeal to our father and former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun to come to our rescue Ogunmakin also has a root from Owu where Baba Obasanjo hails from, we beg to assist us to secure our rightful stool, against plot by some elements to impose a non-indigene as next traditional ruler of Ogunmakin’, the family emphasised

Penpushing further reports that the Ogunmakins alleged that the non-indigene identified as Ayinde Busari popularly ‘Jawe” being rooted for by some elements in the community which include some Ikereku chiefs has been going about with wrong historical background of the family and Ogunmakin town

The family, to put the record straight contrary to Jawe’s claim, explained that the progenitor’s full name was Bello Ogunmakin and not Bisiriyu Ogunmakin, and that his first-ever child from his first wife, Ekitiba, was a male named Busari Ogunwemimo Ogunmakin and not Omonayajo, as Jawe wants people to believe.

‘To set the record straight and in contrary to Ayinde Busari’s press release of 23/5/2024, via MouthpieceNGR, we must now declare that our progenitor’s full name was Bello Ogunmakin, not Bisiriyu Ogunmakin’, the family explained

‘His first-ever child from his first wife-Ekitiba was infact male-Busari Ogunwemimo, not Omonayajo. It was Busari Ogunwemimo Ogunmakin who begat Surakatu  Olawunmi Ogunmakin(Baale Orile Ogunmakin,2001-2014 duly installed  with certificate  by Kabiyesi Osile  and was the only suitably  qualified  incumbent  Baale Ogunmakin land, due to be elevated to Oba Ogunmakin in 2010 ,when it was gifted to late Oba Sodiya’, they added

‘’It is noteworthy to stress that, Pa Ogunmakin was a warlord. His Dad and Grandad from Agbole Asipa Adekalu(Oke Ago-Owu). His Granma from Amororo Dynasty, Totoro. Upon distress calls from Ikerekus, he came through, engaged in fierce battle with the Ibadans for 9 years’, the family stated.

‘He fought fearlessly and selflessly, conquered the Ibadans, defending the borders, preventing them from invading Egba territory today called Ogunmakin land, where he then became the first ever settler. Whilst Pa Ogunmakin indeed had three wives, he begat male children and his wives were from neither Olounde nor Oniturupu villages Busari mentioned
