Robber shot dead in Ogun State
The Ogun State Police Command has shot dead an armed robbery suspect on early hour of Monday while the gang engaged the police in a gun due in Ikenne town located in Ikenne local government area of the state
Penpushing reports that, the Command Public Relations Officer Abimbola Oyeyemi made this known on Tuesday, adding bin the course of the crossfire some other gang members of the robbery syndicate escaped with gunshot injuries.
The police spokesman said this followed a distress call received by police at ikenne divisional headquarters at about 5 00 am. that a group of armed robbers had blocked road along Olabiro street in ikenne and dispossessing people of their valuables at gun point.
“Upon the distress call, the DPO Ikenne division CSP Noukauba Onuma quickly mobilised his patrol team and moved to the scene, on sighting the policemen, the hoodlums engaged them in gun battle which lasted for about 30 minutes at the end of which one of the hoodlums was shot dead while others escaped with various degree of gun shot injuries,”, Oyeyemi said
Penpushing further reports that, he said recovered from the dead robber are; one cut to size locally made gun, one live cartridge and one expended cartridge, adding that the commissioner of police Edward Ajogun has praised his men for their display of gallantry.
The commissioner therefore warned that this should be a warning signal to any would be criminal who are deluding themselves that police are not working again to have a rethink as the command will go to any length in protecting the good people of Ogun state and also directed that the fleeing members of the gang be hunted for and brought to justice within the shortest possible time.
