Protesting workers block Oyo state secretariat

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) and their affiliates On Monday embarked on a protest to demand palliatives, upward review of pension allowances and payment of monies deducted from the salaries in the past.

Penpushing reports that the protesting workers Led by their union leaders locked the Oyo State Secretariat in Ibadan, the state capital, also demanding payment of leave bonuses, payment of gratuities to retirees and release of promotion letters for the Years 2021 and 2022.

The protest as at the time of filing this report has caused traffic jam and commotion within the vicitiny of the secretariat, as well as adjourning areas, as number of motorists and passerbys caught in the web of the protest.
