He also told the court that counsel to the former governor, Titilola Akinlawo (SAN) had given him a notice to produce a contract document involved in the case and that he needed to verify if the same document is with the EFCC.

However, a mild drama ensued at the court when Akinlawo showed a copy of the document to Jacobs who refused to release same while Akinlawo also seized an Ipad belonging to Jacobs, but the court later directed Jacobs to release the document.

The EFCC lawyer, posited  that it would be dangerous for him to continue with the case as such would amount to running into a trap set by the defence counsel until that contract document is verified.

The counsel to the defendant, Titilola Akinlawo while responding told the court, that the case against her client was no more a prosecution, but persecution, with the latest development, recalling that, the documents in question had earlier being tendered to EFCC when the case started.

The counsel expressed dismay that, years after, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was still talking on verification of the documents, stressing that, “this case is no more a prosecution, but a persecution’

Meanwhile, Justice Olanrewaju Mabekoje while ruling on the application said he reluctantly granted the application to allow the prosecution perfects its documents warning that he would not allow an unending case and directed the EFCC to come to the court at the next adjourned date with the remaining witnesses, with emphasis that, “Mark my words; I am going to close the case at the next adjourned date.”
