Police spokesperson denies knowledge of Adebutu at command, peoples democratic party spokesperson confirms presence at police headquarters
The Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola has denied knowledge of former Governorship Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Hon Ladi Adebutu speculations of being arrested nor invited by the command after his Tuesday release from custody of the Department of State Security(DSS) in Abeokuta.
Penpushing reports that as the police spokesperson denied the rumour, the Director, Media and Publicity of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Asiwaju Akinloye Bankole, however, confirmed that the politician was at the police headquarters in Eleweran to honour the police invitation
The duo were contacted as authorities to shed light on the speculations, while Odutola in response to the enquiry whether Adebutu was with the command as speculated, in a terse reply wrote “Good evening sir. I don’t know please”, while Bankole in his own reply said Adebutu just as he did on Monday to honour Department of State Security(DSS), did same on Tuesday to Commissioner of Police.
Penpushing further reports that Bankole said Adebutu has since returned from the police commandheadquarters, adding that as at the time of filing this report he was in company of party members in the charlet, adding that people don’t know the difference between arrest and invitation
“Not true sir, just as he honor DSs invite yesterday, he did the same this afternoon to the Commissioner of Police at Eleweran, he returned over 3 hrs ago and we all had dinner together tonight. I’m presently with him and others in his charlet. People have forgotten the difference between arrested and invited. Ladi Adebutu is here with us, sir”, Bankole emphasized.
Penpushing also reports that earlier in the day a report has it that Adebutu was apprehended by the police for interrogation over his alleged role in the disturbances that occurred during the local government elections in Iperu-Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area, on Saturday.
The report added that the former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)arrest followed his recent release from the Department of State Services (DSS), where he had been interrogated on similar allegations.
Penpushing reports that he(Adebutu) was
accused of allegedly recruiting around 40 unauthorized police officers from Lagos and coordinating Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)thugs to disrupt the local government election.
