Police officer commits suicide in Imo state

A Police Inspector attached to area command headquarters Imo State Police Command in Owerri has committed suicide, as he shot himself dead after returning from an official assignment

Penpushing reports that, the deceased identified as Umoh was reported to have on Wednesday went into a private room and shot himself in the stomach, and incident which caused panic in the area and the police command.

The Imo State Police Command Public Relations Officer,Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed the incident, adding that  the state Commissioner of Police, Nasiru Muhammed, has ordered an investigation into the incident

Penpushing further reports a witness in his account said the policeman on return from the assignment, went into his room, locked himself and thereafter shot himself, adding that it was the gunshot which attracted neighbours

“Mobile officers came back and one of them went into one of the rooms and locked himself in. The next minute, we heard a gunshot. When we approached the quarters, it was discovered the door was locked. We forced it open and the mobile policeman was found dead in a pool of his own blood,” the witness said.
