Police Community Relations Committee donates patrol vehicle to Ogun State Police
The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Ogun State Command has donated a refurbished patrol vehicle to the Obada Police Divisional headquarters located in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the State.
Penpushing reports that the vehicle refurbished by the Obada division of the committee was handed over to the Divisional Police Officer of the Police Divisional headquarters, Adekunle Awoniyi by the State Chairman of the committee, Samson Popoola accompanied by other officials.
The Chairman, Abeokuta metro command of the committee, Hon Yomi Whyte in his opening speech said a technical committee was set up to look into the needs of the police in the zone, adding that one of urgent need was effective patrol vehicle among others.
Penpushing further reports that, it was in this line the committee reached a resolution to repair the grounded vehicle and equip for efficiency of the police, and further aid them to be proactive in tackling crimes and criminality.
“The essence of our coming here is to handover the refurbished vehicle. We set up a technical committee to look into this, and today the vehicle is now readily available for use by the Obada division of the police”, Whyte stated.
The State Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Samson Popoola in his remarks shed more light on the project, explaining that in crime fight, the committee cannot afford to sit on the fence, hence, the importance of supporting the police.
Penpushing also reports that, the committee boss pointed out that the donation is a motivating factor for the police, stressing that community policing has come to stay, and it’s a challenge the committee has to face, as civil side of the police which has to also participate in essential duty.
“PCRC is the civil side of police; we can’t sit on the fence. It is a challenge we have to take. This donation is motivational for the police. Community policing has come to stay”, Popoola emphasised.
The Chairman, Obada division of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC),Oladio Iroko expressed satisfaction being part of the success story, stressing that the committee will continue to support police in war against crimes and criminals in any part of the state.
Penpushing reports that, Iroko while noting that, the job of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) is hectic, however enjoined members to always show passion, so that there will always be record of successes at all time, stressing need to join police in making the state not conducive for criminals.
The Divisional Police Officer, Adekunle Awoniyi in his brief remarks expressed appreciation to the committee, affirming that from his findings, it has been established that, the committee is in partnership with police in providing adequate security and peace in the state and environs, assuring that the patrol vehicle will be judiciously used, and call for assistance in other needy area for the police.
