Gunmen kidnap Christian worshippers during service

Gunmen on Sunday invaded a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Obada Oko area of Ewekoro Local Government area, Ogun State, and abducted three of the worshippers during a church service.

Penpushing reports that, the kidnappers as at the time of filing this reports had contacted the families of the victims, demanding ransom of N6million, just as the police said anti-kidnapping unit has been dispatched to rescue the victims unhurt.

The source from the community said the victims include:  Ifeoluwa Alani-Bello, Adebare Oduntan, and Mary Oliyide, and also gave identity of the church as Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Ona-Ara, Oju-Irin in Obada Oko, adding that  the incident occurred in the early hours of  Sunday after a vigil held in the said church,”

Penpushing also reports that, Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident, adding that  the command’s anti-kidnapping unit has been dispatched to the area to partner with the Obada Oko Division of the police to rescue the victims

The police spokesman recalled that a warning had earlier being issued to religious worshippers against organising prayer sessions at night, especially at forest areas, as well as isolated areas avoid being kidnap.

“We have told our people to stop praying or holding vigils in the bush or isolated places like that place. But, if at all they must hold such programmes in such places, they should let us know so that police patrols vans can be extended to those places.

“As we speak the state command anti-kidnapping unit has been dispatched to the area to partner with the Obada Oko Division of the police to report ensure the rescue the victims”, Oyeyemi added
