Physically challenged Nigerian beaten to death in Italy

A 39-year-old physically challenged Nigerian, Alika Ogorchukwu, has been beaten to death by an Italian man, on the street, of Civitanova Marche city,in Italy,  in the glare of passers-by who stood and watched as the attacker sniffed the life out of him.

Penpushing reports that the sad incident occurred on Friday at about 2pm, with the Italian man overpowering the Nigerian and thereafter, used his (Ogochukwu’s) crutch to hit him, leading to his death.

The deceased said to be resident of San Severino March was said to have had an accident which led to his disability and resorted to begging to survive, while as at the time of filing this report, a source said the Italian got angry after Ogochukwu allegedly talked to a woman he (Italian) was walking with.

Penpushing further reports that, as the attack lasted,some passersby were said to be  watching and filming the incident, while as at the time of the arrival of the police ambulance service to the scene  an attempt to revive Ogochukwu failed as he was pronounced dead.

The source added that as at the time of filing this report, the suspect was reported to have been arrested by the police. while the Nigerian embassy in the country was quoted to have vowed to collaborate with relevant Italian authorities to ensure justice is served and to provide succour to the family of the deceased.

Penpushing also reports that the Nigerian embassy in Italy,in a statement confirmed that  the incident occurred on a busy street, in front of shocked onlookers, some of whom made videos of the attack, with little or no attempt to prevent it.

The Nigeria’s Ambassador to Italy, Mfawa Abam, condemned the murder of  Ogorchukwu, just as he  urged Nigerians in Italy to remain calm and not take laws into their hands,stressing that the authorities will ensure that justice prevailed.

Penpushing reports that, the Nigeria’s Ambassador in the country commiserated with the family of the deceased and directed the provision of immediate consular assistance as appropriate,assuring that succor will be provided  to the family of the deceased.
