Group of officers’ sack Burkina Faso government over military ruler failure to address worsening uprising in country

The military led by an army captain, Ibrahim Traore has toppled the sitting government headed by Paul-Henri Damiba, in Burkina Faso, and subsequently announced the suspension of the constitution and transitional charter.

Penpushing reports that, Traore while announcing the change of government, in a national television said the coup followed, former military ruler inability to deal with a worsening armed uprising in the country.

The army captain in statement equally announced that borders were closed indefinitely and all political and civil society activities were suspended, adding that the actions of a group of officers to depose Damiba became necessary and his government dissolved

Penpushing further reports that, the latest coup in Burkina Faso is the most recent in West Africa where countries like Chad, Mali and Guinea recently experienced coups, while this is coming eight months after Damiba overthrew former President Roch Kabore in a coup.
