SEE YOUR MANDATORY SERVICE YEAR AS SACRIFICE FOR PEACE ,UNITY OF NIGERIA, GOVERNOR MAKINDE URGES CORP MEMBERS

The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports in the State, Seun Fakorede noted that the National Youth Service has over the years brought a selection of youths into the folds so as to create a favorable climate for national integration among all Nigerians, adding that the scheme transcended political, social, and ethnic rivalry and formed the basis for fostering unity among Nigerians.

Hear him, “See your call to service as a sacrifice for the peace and unity of the nation, many of you may find yourselves in a new totally new environment, it should be seen as an avenue to make friends and break new grounds in your host communities

“This historic event is what every Nigerian graduates looks forward to, so you should considered yourselves fortunate to be part of this once lifetime opportunity to serve the nation as corps member, this program also signified the NYSC targeted the youth in order to instill in them the right frame of mind and prepare them physically, mentally and psychologically for the particular role they have to play toward building the nation.”

“Prepare for the enormous task ahead of you, this program will equally provide you with opportunities and add value to yourselves by learning some skills for self-actualization in order to curb the rising tide of graduate unemployment in the nation, avail yourself of the opportunities provided during this orientation exercise and equip yourselves with the right values to ensure a brighter future.”

The Governor, howeve,r said that the new administration in Oyo State will continue to assist the scheme  by providing a conducive environment for its operations, noting that the administration is a youth friendly and has been demonstrated this with the appointment of a young, energetic and vibrant personality as the current Commissioner for the Youth and Sports who also doubles as the Chairman NYSC State Governing Board.

Penpushing further reports that the Permanent Secretary, Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Sports, Funmilayo Oyadeyi who spoke on behalf of the Commissioner for Youth and Sport in the State, Hon. Seun Fakorede, urged the Corps Members to allow their discipline, service and humility to be their guiding principles throughout the exercise and the entire service year, adding that these attributes will in no small measure contribute to their success in their chosen career.

“This orientation course is a launch pad for the one year mandatory service of the corps member, and to prepare them for the specific roles to play in the scheme, it is equally designed to inculcate the ideal of patriotism, services and humility into vibrant youths.”

Penpushing reports that, he however, urged them to in the spirit as it will serve as an impetus to coping with the challenges of the service year, assuring them of a memorable stay in the State, thanking the Governor for his unflinching support to the scheme in the State

Penpushing also reports that earlier in her introductory address, the NYSC Oyo State Coordinator, Mrs Ambekemo Eniola noted that the Oyo NYSC have registered a at 12 midnight of Friday 30th November, 2019, a total of 1,188 prospective Corps Members comprising 487 males and 701 females, representing the thirty six (36) States of the Federation including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The Coordinator maintained that the management of the scheme is adequately prepared for the Corps members to enable them have a memorable experience, adding that the camp environment has been made conducive for them in ensuring a minimal comfort.

“I therefore implore you to make good use of facilities that have been put in place by the authority, the orientation course timetable is loaded with programmes and activities such as paramilitary drills, lectures, culture, history, security, NYSC programmed such as Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programmes which is aimed at empowering Corps members.”

“Continue to comport yourselves in a discipline manner and abide by camp rules and regulations, despite the regimentation, a lot of exiting moments await you as there would be time to relax and engage in social and sporting activities.”

Penpushing reports that, she however called on the Governor  to assist the NYSC to provide an ultra-modern auditorium to enhance smooth running of the camp stating that the present auditorium been used by NYSC cannot accommodate all the Corp members.
