Pastor remanded in prison for allegedly impregnating minor

The magistrate court sitting in Akure, Ondo State Capital has ordered Pastor Victor Oluwasegun of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in the town be remanded at a correctional centre for impregnating a minor.

Penpushing reports that the 31-year-old cleric had earlier allegedly put five other young girls in the family way before his latest escapade, for which he was arraigned before a magistrate in Akure

The prosecutor David Ebriku told the court that Oluwasegun who was arraigned before the magistrate by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on a one-count charge of unlawful sexual intercourse had unlawful sexual intercourse with the minor on July 24, in the Oba-Ile area of the state.

Penpushing further reports that the prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 31(1) of the Child Rights’ Laws of Ondo State 2007 and is punishable under Section 31(2) of the same laws, and urged the court to remand the suspect to a correctional centre.

Meanwhile, the magistrate, Taiwo Lebi, in his ruling order that the accused be remanded and adjourned the hearing of the bail application to September 19, 2024.
