Oyo state government to block major roads over Olubadan’s coronation

The Oyo State Government is to temporarily close some major roads in Ibadan metropolis for a hitch free coronation ceremony for the new Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, scheduled to hold on Friday.

Penpushing reports that, this was made known in a traffic diversion message by management of the Oyo State Road Transport Management Agency (OYRTMA) explaining that the affected routes would be shut from Thursday 12am and reopened 12pm on Saturday, 12, 2022

‘This is to inform the general public of traffic diversions at the under-listed routes leading to the ancient Mapo Hall, Ibadan occasioned by the official installation of the 42nd Paramount Ruler and King of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Sen.) Lekan Balogun on Friday 11th March 2022.’, the message said

The routes which shall be shut by 12:00am of Thursday 10th March 2022 and reopened 12:00pm on Saturday 12th March 2022 include: Beere Junction inward Mapo Hall, Born Photo Junction inwards Oja’ba, Idi-Arere Junction Inwards Oja’ba and Itamerin Junction inwards Mapo Hall.

Penpushing further reports that, the message added that the agency in conjuction with other sister security agencies have been adequately mobilized to direct the flow of traffic and ensure the safety of road users.

‘The Authority has however provided the following alternative routes to vehicles intending to ply the barricaded regions; Alternative route to the barricade at Beere Junction are Oranyan route, Beere-Oke Dada Route and Agben- Ogunpa route, Born-Photos are Gege route inward Oke-Ado and Idi-Arere Route inward Molete,  Idi-Arere blockade are Agbongbon-Kobomoje-Eleta-Oranyan routes and Itamerin barricade are Beere-Oje route, Agbeni-Okunpa route

‘We regret the inconveniences these temporary road diversions might cause motorists and commuters around the affected routes and we implore all to adhere strictly to the provisions above and cooperate with our Men and Officers to ensure a rancor free occasion’, the management stated.

Penpushing also reports that, in similar development all markets in the ancient townwill be shut down in honour of new monarch, to avoid traffic congestion and honour the 42nd traditional ruler.

The Babaloja-general of Oyo State, Alhaji Yekini Abass disclosed this after a meeting with market leaders across Ibadan on Wednesday, just as he added that, the traders in the state felicitate with Governor Seyi Makinde, Ibadan Council of Oba and High Chiefs for a rancour free ascension to the throne of Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Penpushing reports that Abass, however, said that traders and markets leaders of the all markets should opened the markets for business by the end of Jumat when major activities concerning the coronation will have ended.

Meanwhile, the Babaloja prayed for peaceful reign of the new traditional ruler and economy development of Ibadanland and Oyo state in general.
