OGUN TRADITIONAL COUNCIL CHIEFS PROTEST AGAINST PROPOSED CORONATION OF NEW RULER
The late monarch, Oba Fasina, it is recalled was about two years ago murdered on his way home, by suspected assassins, who also set his car ablaze to cover the traces of the crime, but police investigation later led to arrest of some suspects.
The Council of Chiefs during the protest were seen with various placards with inscriptions such as ”the entire Obas in Yewa land should come to our rescue”, ”We want justice”, we don’t want imposition of Oba on the people of Owo land, ”Say no to violence in Owo land”, ”We don’t want kangaroo coronation by Amosun”
The protesting chiefs emphasized and declared that, they would resist all attempt by the government to impose a traditional ruler over them,stressing that, a new traditional ruler would only emerge after the court case is resolved.
Penpushing further reports that,the Chairman of Owo forum, Mrs Comfort Aghelegin while speaking with journalists declared that the Council of Chiefs will not allow any coronation to take place unless the case in the court is settled.
”If Amosun does not want chaos and killings in Owoland and Ogun State generally, it is better he puts an end to tomorrow’s (Friday) We don’t Governor to impose Oba on us we can choose ourselves, the issue need to be settled in court before any coronation can take place”
”I want to beg Amosun to stop this corrupt act unless he will regret being an Ogun State Governor, because we will cause mayhem and chaos, but for peace to rain in Ogun State, he should call for cancellation of the coronation schedule for tomorrow”
