OYO POLICE READY TO CLAMPDOWN ON CRIMINALLY-MINDED PEOPLE DURING SALLAH, SAYS COMMISSIONER

‘Police is warning organisers of frivolous street carnival to be wary of disgruntled youth/individuals who are criminal minded and always willing to use such avenues to extort money, intimidate their perceived rivals and thereby, commits crimes including murder’, the statement said.

“The police will not fold their arms watching some violent individuals or groups under any aiegis  or carnival to engaged in activities that will disturb the peace of the State, or that may leads to breakdown of law and order.”

“Organisers of such street carnival should be wary of the consequences of any negative fallout before, during and after the celebrations as the police is also using this opportunity to call on the leaders of the Okada riders to join hands with the police to flush out criminally minded individuals in their midst who has been devising several means or methodology, style and modules operandi to commit crime such as stealing, armed robbery, rape, etc.”

Penpushing further reports that, the statement reads, ‘It is pertinent to note that police searchlight will hence forth be beamed on such operators with a view of running them out of business and bringing them to justice.

The  Command equally assures that it is fully prepared for the Sallah celebrations while  adequate security measures have been put in place to respond to any security threat from any individuals or groups who may be bent on disturbing the relative peace and tranquility being enjoyed by the law abiding citizens in the state.

The Police boss urged the celebrants to be conscious of their security, the environment, suspicious parcel, packages, movement, and avoid frivolous journey and invitation particularly by unknown person on telephone who may pretend to be friend but may only an enemy lurking around to commit havoc.

Penpushing also reports that, the commissioner implored all the peace loving people of the State to continue to support, cooperate and assist the police with credible information to enable them to serve them better particularly during this period.
