Yanju Uwala in Abeokuta

Seun Odunlami

My name is Seun Odúnlámi and my own assessment of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s one year administration is that, first time that a Governor won’t commission any project on the 1st year anniversary in Ogun State.

He’s trying in Agriculture and health but I haven’t seen anything tangible in other sector. The State is working with the Federal Government on some stuffs and young people were empowered though those empowered were said to be majorly APC members but they were offered loan and some birds of broilers were delivered to some while some are already selling out their birds.

He approved and implemented 300% allowance for health workers for the period of COVID-19 and 236 health centers across the state are undergoing rehabilitation.

Umaru Sulaiman

My name is Umaru Sulaiman, from Edo State, Edo North to be precise. I am a retired Police Officer. My assessment of the Dapo Abiodun’s one year administration?  Without prejudice and with  God and humanity, Dapo Abiodun has been full of ups and down, if you ask me to assess him in security, I will score him 3 out of 10, in the sense that ever since he has been the governor of this State, there has not been a serious offshoot of crime, that is why I said I will score him 3 out of 10 in that issue, the issue of banditry, the issue of kidnapping though not much, unlike other states in the country.

In the area of education, I will give him zero over 10, because if you visit most of these schools in both primary and secondary in Abeokuta metropolis especially, most of the buildings are dilapidated buildings, even most of the compound are being eroded by erosion, so I will give him zero over 10 in that area of education in Ogun State.

In area of infrastructure, I will give him, zero over 10, ever since he has assumed leadership of this State as the governor, he has not started any road construction, even those roads that were under construction before former Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, all have stopped, there is no good road in Ogun State that one can raise thumb up for, so I am giving him zero over 10 in that sector too.

In the health sector, I am equally giving him zero over 10 because most of these hospitals now are nothing to write home about, there are no drugs, so I will give him zero over 10 in the health sector.

Even in Sports, it is zero over 10, our darling football club, Gateway FC has been in the Division 2 for many years now, so when he came on board, he’s not trying to encourage the home players and the coach, so I am equally giving him zero over 10 in that area.

Under job creation, I give him two over 10 in the sense that those that were recruited by Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the former governor, he later called them back, so I am giving him two over 10 in that area.

In agriculture, I am giving him two over 10, in Housing Corporation, two over 10, in overall assessment, zero over 10. So in over all, he has performed woefully in this administration, I don’t know of next year that may follow.

Olatubosun Oyalowo

I am Honourable Olatunbosun Hakeem Oyalowo. I am one of the local fabrics manufacturers at Adire/Kampala precisely. Thank you very much, what I see in our new Governor, His Excellency, Dapo Abiodun, I saw him to be a very good listener and a very good politician, because in different aspect of what we have been suffering of in Ogun State, especially this health and education sectors, he’s performing wonderful, but the only thing I want to cheap in is that, he’s not with the blueprint of this Ogun State as a whole but with the steps he’s taking I know he’s going to perform very wonderful, for the past a year, he has been touching each aspects of the State he’s governing.

Like what I know a little, is that we had a crisis in our own market, the Adire/Kampala Market, and the past government after the demolition of the roads to bring infrastructure to the State, which we are all happy about that,  that new development is coming to our market but unfortunately after the demolition, and after the past government was telling us then was that immediately they demolished and if the shopping mall was to be built, the beneficiaries would come from we that owns a lot of shops there but unfortunately, he could not do it but when we cried out to the Governor, and he come to our aid, immediately an action was taken and he has to revoked all the shops, the shopping mall, the adire mall, immediately after some times, he reviewed and we thank God things are coming up and I believe the market would start picking up any moment from now.

From the angle of a business  I am satisfied with the Governor, Yes…very, Because, you know in our own market like that we had a lot of graduates there that you know most of us cannot be a banker, or a politician, or a doctor but he encouraged us, if you have seen in the last one year now that he has been governing, Abeokuta as a whole, is known to be the origin of Adire/Kampala in this our nation, Nigeria.

He also has laid good example by putting on our fabrics all the time, he has empowered a lot of us, he has encouraged most of us. Most of his commissioners and people working with him, he has mandated even the schools, everybody every Friday that they should wear Adire, even me that I am talking to you, I have benefited a lot.

Most of us have benefited a lot, most of our market people, they have come patronising us because they love what we are doing, and he has laid a very good example because he loves what we are doing.

He supported us, only that in the financial area, he hasn’t come to our aid, but in the last three or four months before this coronavirus pandemic crisis of a thing come, the House of Assembly member that came from that our constituency has came and being a spokesman of the Adire market, I, Olatunbosun, the man came an  asked what we really need, with that one, we really see that he’s encouraging us in our businesses and taking it to another level for us.

In a summary,Yes, I really appreciate what he has been doing., and really, what I will say as an advice for our Excellency is that anywhere he thinks there is a problem, he should take immediate action to look into it and not just leave it to the people, that he gave the order to do it, when he send them out to verify something, he should please call them to order and know what is really happening about what he has asked them to do.

Ibigbami Adeniyi

My name is Ibigbami Adeniyi, I am a teacher. My real assessment of any administration is based on an individual view, that’s we can not see things from the same perspective. Also our reason faculties and basis of judgement differs. I am not a politician but to be candid with you, Prince Dapo Abiodun has made his stay in office for the past 365 days worthwhile.

Let’s start from here, yesterday I interviewed a secondary school student in my area. I asked of their school fees but the girl said the governor asked them to pay nothing which implies education is free for now in Ogun state.

Also, look at the road network. It was started by last administration, the current governor improved on it by completing abandoned projects at the same time constructed many trunk B roads. Also on revenue generation, Ogun state is currently one of the best in Nigeria.  The administration also provided employment (teaching) opportunity, I will give the administration 70 out of 100 in my rating.

On health, I can say little. Let me pick Olikoye hospital and primary Health centre, Obantoko as my case studies. You will be surprised to see the level of health issues the hospital (Olikoye) now deals with. It was seen as an ordinary hospital in the time past but now the hospital attends to severe cases, it is now a full fledged hospital. Though they still need to improve but their service is commendable.

You see that Health centre at Alogi, you won’t believe their level of dexterity if tell you except you witness it yourself. Their charges are very affordable to all and sundry.

Alhaji Lateef Oyegbola

My own name is Alhaji Lateef Afolabi Oyegbola. I am a business man, resident of  Iyana-mortuary side, Abeokuta, in Ogun State, Abeokuta South. On my  own assessment of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration in the last one year? Well, he’s a very nice man and his job maybe slow but at same time we have seeing a lot of changes in Ogun State.

Well, number one, he’s not delaying civil servants salary, our children’s school  fees, it has been cancelled, and he has been doing a lot of things…Well, he tried on farmers and the fact is that he is doing well in Ogun State.

On Agriculture, he’s trying and he’s already starting some roads construction from Ijebu side down to  other parts of Ogun State. Yes, from Ijebu, Ikenne, to Abeokuta, now from Interchange to Abeokuta, we have been seeing his hands over there, that he wants to do it and that is the major road.

On the hospital facilities, he has been trying… Like General Hospital now….in Ijaiye….before when you are getting there to see Doctors, it will take you a long time, but now, even if there is an emergency, when you get there now, they will attend to you. They will give you first aid before asking you maybe you have to take card, you have to do this and the rest…

Yes…it is an achievement. Because before, there was a year, I had an accident and they said I have to take card, before they treat me, which is about 6 or 7 years ago, they said I have to take card before they attend to me . What I am saying is when I have  accident, when someone is in emergency, firstly you will attend to him, after he or she..

The Doctors are doing well in there and if you have emergency, they will attend to you, in a proper way and there is a drug over there, there is equipment to treat you in the hospital now, than the other time, in that time by six years ago, we don’t have equipment.

Another thing I can say about it, is for the past two to three years ago, we have not seen water but there is  flowing water now, he repaired the water and everybody is enjoying the water now, before we are buying water, even in my home, I will put keg in my car, and start fetching water all around in the GRA. Yes, he has solved the problem now.

I give him kudos on that, 100% kudos, because for us to be using our car to be fetching water then if that one is insufficient enough, then we will buy which is about ₦2,000 per 1,000 litres. So he has done that, which I appreciate.

On agriculture, I can be specific because he has sponsor some people which I know and they are doing well. In terms of financial assistance aspect of it and those people are doing well, if they don’t have that financial assistance from government they may not be doing it, so I give him kudos.

Akinteye Obafemi Samuel

My name is Akinteye Obafemi Samuel, I own a bar, a businessman. Thank you Sir. I will be brief about the details, so many things but I want to thank this government of Dapo Abiodun for what they have been doing for the past one year in Ogun State.

For me, the little things I noticed in this government is that there are some abandoned projects which I think the last government left before this present government came in last year, May 29, that I believe that by now, they ought to have fully done.

Let me give an example, like there are some roads that are been started by the former government and until this government, some of the roads are still there, which I don’t want to be mentioning areas and all that.

Now, I believe we Ogun State are one family, and no one is an island, someone will start something and one will definitely finish it, I don’t know what  will happen to the roads and to some construction like, let me say the ShopRite in Oke-Ilewo in front of NUJ Secretariat….

Okay… from my own assessment, this government I think they have done well in constructing new building for schools,  the health sector they are really trying and I know of the Agricultural sector

I think they are really working about the schools, the health sector, the agricultural sector, I think this government they are really trying, and in terms of the security of the State, I think we the  residents  can sleep with our mind not like they would just come to rob us, unlike what has been happening for decades and in the security sector too, I think they are really trying too.

I have mentioned of health, that they have done well..if not for this COVID-19. So I think in the health sector, they are doing well, they are doing well too.

The Sports sector of this State from this new government, I think it has not been so encouraging because to me I have not heard of new development in the Sports sector of this State, ever since last year May 29 that this our Governor  Dapo Abiodun came to office, nothing has been done, aside from what we known, no new Sports activities, no new activities, I think in that aspect, they should try and work on it and again, on some projects like I noticed that have been abandoned, don’t let me say fully abandoned, I have not seen any new development of the activities of the projects.

Yes…there are lots of abandoned projects, this new government should work on and complete it, I mean left abandoned by the former government. The roads, the only area that I know that they abandoned jobs that the Chinese have not finished, is given to him, and he see to it… I want him to complete it.

Mrs Olayinka Ogunseye

My name is Chief (Mrs) Ogunseye Olayinka Alao. I am a retired Principal in Ogun State. On my assessment of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s one year administration in Ogun State? The man, Dr. Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun State in person is a nice, cool-headed, dynamic administrator of excellence, but you know as a governor, situation at times won’t allow you to rule within your own concept and as a governor, you still need to imbibe the doctrines of your party, like the APC, they have their doctrines and it is on that doctrines that most of the governors on APC operates, so there is no way they could behave outside the manifestoes of the political party, he is in.

For him, he has tried and he’s still trying, he is a kind of governor that is striving and well- concerned about the welfare of the people of Ogun State, that for sure I know, at least, we the civil servants, I am a retired Principal and up till now since he came in, even without or with little money in the offing, he is still one the Governors in Nigeria that cares greatly for the civil-servants, every workers around him, he makes sure that they are happy, he pays their salary as at when due, he had never paid salary on the 30th since his resumption, he will struggle to look for money and make sure he pay them, at least for instance, if in a family of 10, you have 1,2,3 people working, releasing salaries as at when due you will be able to cushion the effect of hardship, unlike some members of the family, when you have your little stipend.

So for that he has been doing well, even we, the pensioners, he has never suffered us, if not for the  COVID-19 pandemic, I know that he could have gone haywire further in terms of administration, but no matter what the case maybe, he has really tried.

In the health sector, though he just came in and wants to improve on what he met on ground, even if the health facilities is nothing to write home about, he is busy running here and there to ensure that these people affected are housed and taken care of, he tried in his own capacity, but the little thing he could do, he went to Ijebu, they tried to improve the health care facilities there, at Sagamu and so on and so forth, one would thought that they would come, we have enough spaces in our hospitals, even though they don’t have facilities, they can improvise.

We have Odeda General Hospital, we have Iberekodo General Hospital there, and some Primary Health Centres, they can be used to house these patients, but we thank God we don’t have more than necessary numbers of COVID-19 victims in Ogun State and it is due to one, his efforts, constant communication with the people on the television and radio, personal touch, educating the people, enlightenment, people needs enlightenment and he tries to do that.

So as a new Governor now, my advice for him is that these our health care facilities, our primary health centres, they should try to upgrade them and also employ more health workers.

Mrs Olufunke Adeosun

My name is Mrs Olufunke Adeosun. I am a Teacher by profession. On my assessment of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s one year administration in Ogun State? I will say our able governor has tried a lot concerning education, he did not owe teachers salary, he pay us regularly and as at when due, and you can see that there is insufficient teachers within the school premises.

But we still want him to do more and we pray God will help him in the education sector. Concerning the roads, most of these roads are very bad; we pray that God will empower him to reconstruct the roads.

The health sector, he has tried his best but his best will not be enough for the people because most of the hospitals don’t have sufficient drugs, also the doctors and nurses are not that sufficient, and the population of the patients are very much than that of the staffs (workers), so they still need more hands, so we pray that as he is going for another new year, may God help him to do more and he will have more health and prosperity in Jesus name. Amen.
