Ogun state police command inaugurates new divisional headquarters

The Ogun State Police Command on Monday inaugurated a new Divisional Police Headquarters located in Obada community along Abeokuta-Lagos expressway in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the State, which was jointly renovated by the Police Community Relations Committee(PCRC) and the community.

Penpushing reports that, Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson who unveiled the project pointed out that community policing has come to stay and encouraged the police to work in unision with various communities to achieve better result in combating crimes.

The Police boss who was accompanied by the Area Commander, Musiliu Aliu and  the Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the commissioning of the Divisional headquarters came at the right time, adding that it was in the interest of the residents of the community and environs.

Penpushing further reports that, Ebrimson  called on the community to have confidence and trust in the police, by providing genuine information which will help in flushing out criminals,stressing that,’information is key to police’

The Commissioner added that, security should not be politicise, stating that, it has no bias, nor colourations, as well as ethinicity, hence, the need for residents to be cooperative with security operatives.

Penpushing also reports that,Ebrimson used the occasion in calling on all Divisional Police Officers to adopt partnership with various communities in their juridictions of operations,and equally expressed appreciation to the Police Community Relations Committee(PCRC)

‘All DPO’s must adopt partnering with host communities, it will be tantamount of waste if they do contrary. Information is key to police. DPO’s and officers must work closely with their host communities’, he emphasised.

Penpushing reports that, the traditional ruler of the town, Oba Olufemi Solaja in his speech expressed appreciation to the police leadership, as well as the Police Community Relations Committee(PCRC) for roles played in upgrading the station to Divisional Headquarters.

‘Today marks a milestone in the history of Obada town, not because we now have a police formation in Obada-Oko town, which prior  to the new development,used to be a police post in 2009 with the efforts of His Royal Highness, late Oba Mufutau Adisa Sodiya and his council chiefs’, he said.

The royal father explained that , the community enjoyed the police post for some years before it was taken over by Special Anti-Robbery Squad, which restructured the police post into zonal intervention squad, which was commissioned on September 7,2016 by the then Commissioner of Police, Almajid now Deputy Inspector General of Police

Penpushing further reports that, the Olu of Obada-Oko  implored the Community Development Associations, artisans and various groups to do everything possible to make police job easier, stressing that,’as we all know that security issue requires a collaborative effort, and all hands must be on deck by all stakeholders’.
