Ogun state government endorses alternate medicine

The Ogun State Government has promised to give the needed support in training and licencing to practitioners of alternate medicine in order to bring a drastic improvement into the practice.

Penpushing reports that Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, made this known when she hosted the newly inaugurated Alternate Medicine Board led by its pioneer Chairman, Balogun Nurudeen Olaleye, in her office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The Commissioner pointed out that the coronavirus has shown the need for building a holistic health system where alternate medicine would play an essential role, adding that orthodox medicine would not work against alternate medicine.

Penpushing further reports that, Coker noted that both parties are working towards improving human health and advised the Board to leverage on research and documentation that will give their efforts a global reckoning.

The Commissioner commending the passion of the Board Chairman, Nurudeen Olaleye and the Executive Secretary, Dr. Kafayat Lawal, urged them to key into the vision of  Dapo Abiodun led government to provide qualitative and affordable health services to residents of the Gateway State.

Penpushing also reports that, the Chairman of the board earlier in his speech, assured that the board consists of competent hands that will do the state government proud in all its activities, noting that all hands will be on deck to provide necessary input to improve the health system in the State.

The Board which was inaugurated by Governor Abiodun in September comprises of representatives of trado- medical practitioners from the three senatorial districts and Ministries of Health, Hospitals Management Board, Agriculture, Youth and Sports as well as Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
