Ogun state government discharges 6 coronavirus patients

The Ogun State Government said on Friday that it has discharged six patients, who have recovered from coronavirus from the State Isolation and Treatment Centers.T

Penpushing reports that, Commissionerfor Health, DrTomi Coker,  made this known in an interview with journalists, explaining that the State has now given a clean bill of health to a total of 20 individuals, adding that it has also recorded five new confirmed cases, bringing the total confirmed cases since the index case to 100.

“The State has now recorded 100 confirmed cases of COVID-19. We currently have 78 active cases and unfortunately 2 deaths from non-COVID related conditions.

The Commissioner said approximately 10, 000 individuals have been screened, with 725 samples tested”, adding that the number of cases has increased, consequential to the State’s Community-Based Sampling initiative, adding that the laboratory and testing capacity of the State, having been recently scaled up, has resulted to quicker turnaround time of test results.

Penpushing further reports that,Coker noted that the State’s response has however increased, with an addition of a new 60-bedded isolation centre in Abeokuta, assuring of continued proactive measures toward combating the virus.

The commissioner  implored residents of the State to continue to observe physical distancing, use of face mask and good personal and respiratory hygiene during the lockdown relaxation periods.
