OGUN HEALTH MINISTRY PROPOSES OVER N8 BILLION FOR INFRASTRUCTURE, MEDICAL EQUIPMENT IN 2020
The Medical Doctor said his Ministry proposed a total budget proposal of N11.140bn, which also included N500m for construction of 30 bedded hospitals and health centres, N1.950bn for construction of more hostels in all Schools of Nursing across the State, while more classrooms in all Schools of Nursing and Midwifery would be constructed to the tune of N1bn for the next fiscal year.
Penpushing further reports that , he said, other items in the budget included; the proposed procurement of various digitized equipment, as well as implementation of special projects and assignment involving; combating communicable diseases and epidemic control among others, for N3.66bn, with N2.758bn earmarked for recurrent for the next fiscal year.
The Permanent Secretary said the Ministry was poised to enhancing healthcare services, while making sure that machineries had been set in motion to strengthen primary healthcare delivery system to fighting the scourge of endemic and non-endemic diseases.
The State Hospitals Management Board Permanent Secretary, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro, in the same vein, added that the Board targeted N50m revenue, while N5.342bn would cater for recurrent to reduce infant and mortality rate to the barest minimum.
Penpushing also reports that, in a related development, the State Government has assured of continued resolve to improve on the health care delivery in the State in order to safeguard the lives of residents without leaving anything to chance.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Adesanya Ayinde, gave this assurance and noting that emergency management must always be on the front burner of any health system, as epidemic outbreak must not be addressed with kids gloves.
Penpushing reports that, Ayinde said the recent cholera outbreak witnessed in the State was combatted with series of health management strategies, which were helpful in reducing the number of victims, stressing that the present administration had placed high premium on health.
The Permanent Secretary assured that the health sector would continue to intensify efforts on awareness campaign, training of personnel and strategic moves, for improved healthcare and also disclosed that the structural deficits in the Schools of Nursing across the State would be addressed in the coming year, in order to increase in enrolment.
The Chairman, House Committee on Health, Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju, in his remarks urged the health managers to work harder towards accessing grants domiciled with the Federal Government for the good of the citizenry
