OGUN DISQUALIFIES 20 INTENDED PLIGRIMS TO JERUSALEM

The screening exercise, was jointly carried out by Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Ogun State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board and relevant security agencies.

 Penpushing further reports that,Odejobi revealed that in as much as the State wants higher participation of Christians in holy pilgrimage to Israel,  standard and regulations must be followed, noting that some of them failed because of  inability to give main reason for going on pilgrimage.

He gave other reasons for disqualification as age barrier of less than the 40 years, discrepancies in their records, lack of Christian discipline, while others could not give cogent  reason for leaving their state’s Boards in the eastern and northern part of Nigeria for Ogun state Christian Board among others. 

The Chairman testified that the State pilgrims had always conducted themselves properly in the past, while in Israel, saying government was only being thorough with the screening, so as to check fake pilgrims that would jeopardise the reputation of the State.

In his contribution, the Team Leader and Special Assistant to the Executive Secretary, NCPC Abuja, Mr. John Tor-Akume commended the present administration in the state for ensuring hitch-free exercise and promoting standard in its welfare package.

He congratulated the over 200 intending pilgrims, who scaled through the exercise and were recommended for this year pilgrimage, to always exhibit Christian virtues and be good ambassadors of the State and Nigeria in the holy land of Israel.
