Nigerian youths should embrace farming as alternative to poverty, says Ibrahim Udu

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kalos Agro-Allied equipments Limited, Ibrahim Udu, has charged Nigerian youth to disabuse their minds from the notion that farming is only meant for the old people.

Penpushing reports that, Udu who is a farmer gave the charge during exclusive interview at the exhibition ground of his company’s products, during the 10th international Gateway Trade fair, held  at MKO Abiola International  Tradefair complex in Abeokuta, Ogun State  Capital.

The company boss emphasised that youth should be an active participant in agriculture, stressing that  it is the only means to survival, adding that agriculture should be a compulsory business line for everyone.

“Agriculture is not only for about growing of crops it also about rearing of animals the input and output of agriculture product in comparison to the level of society should not be less, the Nigeria food price, demand the equipment of wisdom ,gone are the days whereby people had the zeal to sell mentally ,harvest manually, produce manually”, he said

Penpushing further report that, Udu boasted that farming is becoming more profitable, hence, the need to invest in it, noting that gone are the days when people use ten hectares of land for a particular crop and end up making profit of N150,000

“Farming is becoming more profitable, you invest in it and you get your investment out with huge profit, gone are the days where people use ten acre of land to farm a particular crop and end up not raising up to one hundred and fifty thousand naira’.

“When you plant cassava on an acre of land you will get nothing less than three hundred thousand naira. There is need to understand that, agriculture produce can now be preserved’, he stated.

The Chief Executive Officer pointed out that gone are the days where farm produce, gets spoil by pets before getting to final consumer, explaining that introduction of machines can help to facilitate all these farm produce, land preparation to plating, harvesting, processing and ease the transportation.

Penpshing also reports that, the Chief Executive Officer who did not hide his love for farming, expressed his love for agriculture, stating that he is going to train his children to become farmers as well.
