Nigerian youths have called on government to come to their aid in providing jobs, develop their skills, talents and also create supports for small businesses so as to help address the high rate of unemployment in the country.

Penpushing reports that this appeal was made in a random interview conducted with number of the youths who equally demanded for more empowerment training and programme for them, stressing that hardship they are facing is no more bearable.

The youths pointed out that lack of job poses a great threat to their well-being and thus making life unpleasant for individuals and families, stressing that it is a known fact that idle hand is devil’s workshop, adding that government non-challance should not be allowed to push them to the wall.

Penpushing further reports that one of the youths, Taiwo Adepite, a resident of Oluwo community in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, emphasized that unemployment is one of the major factors which leads his peers into anti-social activities

‘Unemployment is a big issue in Nigeria especially among youths which is the main cause of youths engaging in so many anti-social activities. Maybe to some extent we can’t really blame them or put the whole blame on them, the government has failed to play its roles and the frustration of that alone is pushing them to do and undo’, he explained.

The graduate of over six years who still remained unemployed lamented that it was disheartening that years after leaving school he was unable to secure job, and has to rely on operating commercial motorcycle known as Okada to earn a living

Penpushing also reports that Adepite explained that what he realized as proceeds from Okada work was nothing to write home about, stressing that he was fed up and discouraging eating from hands to mouth, appealing to government on need to do the needful.
