NIGERIAN SENATOR, ADELEKE ARRAIGNS OVER CERTIFICATE FORGEY, GRANTED N2 MILLION BAIL

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges, and after taking his plea, the defence lawyers asked for bail for their client, which was granted  by the Magistrate, Muhammed Zubairu, who asked him to post a bond of N2 million with one surety in like sum.

Penpushing further reports that, the Magistrate ordered that, the surety must be resident in Abuja and is expected to provide evidence of his source of livelihood. The accused met the bail conditions and left the court premises at 12.22pm

It is recalled that, Adeleke had  earlier been granted leave to travel abroad on health grounds by a Federal High Court on Monday  presided by Inyang Ekwo, while the order stated that hes expected to return by June 9 from his medical vacation.

The politician is currently facing multiple trials following allegations related to his West African Examination Certificate, and was first arrested in September 2018, a few days to the Osun Governorship election in which he was the candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Penpushing also reports that, the controversial Senator denied the allegations of forgery when he was arraigned by the police, arguing that he had been a victim of vindictive politics of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Meanwhile, the Magistrate adjourned the Tuesday matter till June 24 for hearing.
