Nigerian Palynologist, Ayobami Oyelami bags Ajilo of Gbonganland chieftaincy title
A renowned Nigerian Palynologist and Biostratigrapher, Dr Ayobami Babalola Oyelami has been installed as Ajilo of Gbonganland, a chieftaincy title meant for a royal family, a ceremony held at the ancient town which is headquarters of Aiyedaade Local Government Area of Osun State
Penpushing reports that the ceremony was held on Friday October 27, 2023 which was supervised by His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr) Adetoyese Oyeniyi, Olufi of Gbonganland, as Jagun of Gbongan placed the traditional leaf known as Ewe-Oye on Oyelami’s head
The Balogun of Gbongan, High Chief Qazeem Onikepe was not left of the ceremony as he anchored the events with perfection, while the ancient town wore colourful look and went agog, as Oyelami who is one of the four descendants of Fagbola royal family took oath of office
Penpushing further reports that the oath-of-office was administered by the Oosa of Gbongan. Oba Ayetutu who equally handed over the certificate of conferment to the recipient, while the beads were bestowed by the Dawodu of Gbongan, Chief Adesoji Oyeniyi.
The newly installed Oyelami during brief interview with Penpushing Media, assured of his commitment to the development of Gbonganland, stressing that with the support and guidance of God he would do his best to uplift the town to glory
‘By the grace of God Almighty, I will do my best to support His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr Adetoyese Oyeniyi, in his efforts at improving the wellbeing of the people of Gbongan and attracting development to the town’,Oyelami assured
Penpushing also reports that Olufi of Gbonganland, Oba Adetoyese Oyeniyi, in his remarks urged the newly installed Ajilo and other chiefs to bring their wealth of experience to bear on the development of Gbonganland.
The other recipients of the chieftaincy titles include Julius Olawoye Makanjuola as the Mólàjà of Gbonganland; Yinusa Olalere Ekundebe as the Mogbindin of Gbonganland; and Olatunde Oyebisi Ayobami Makanju as the Mókówajò of Gbonganland.
Penpushing reports that dignitaries in attendance included Olori Olufi, Olori Aderonke Oyeniyi; Baba-Oba of Gbonganland, Chief Emmanuel Adetunji; Dr Bolanke Olawale Babalakin; Professor Adebayo Williams; Chief Adewuyi Adetunji; Otun Balogun of Gbongan, Chief Saka Owopade; President, Association of Gbongan Progressive Elements, Prince Adelani Ajanaku; and Chief Olusegun Odegbami; among many others.
Meanwhile, Pastor Francis Alade, the Assistant Pastor in Charge of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Lagos Province 108 offered prayers for the newly installed chiefs, as well at the ceremony which lasted for hours
