Nigerian musicians task council chairmen on aggressive campaign against coronavirus

The Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Ogun State Chapter has tasked local government chairmen on the need to be proactive in sensitizing residents of their council areas over the danger associated with the unabated coronavirus pandemic.

Penpushing reports that, the association made call during a courtesy call to the leadership of the Remo North Local Government of the state, which was part of the association’s senitization programme on the pandemic.

The association led by its Secretary, Comrade Samuel Balogun, popularly called ‘Sammy B, pointed out that they have been going round as their own support for the government in the fight against the coronavirus

‘We have been going round to complement the effort of the state government on the need to prevent the community spread of covid-19. We have moved round and we noticed that more than 80% of people of Isara complied strictly with the directives of the state government’.

‘We deem it fit to pay you a courtesy. We are happy to meet you in a happy mood. We want to implore you that you should not relent on our oars by telling our people.  We need to move and make economy of Ogun state to grow again’.

‘But if this virus continues to be with us, there’s no doubt it will continue to jeopardize our activities. So, we want to urge you to try as much as possible to make sure you put other things in place. Those things that will help the people of Isara and Remo North in general to adhere strictly to the directives of the government so that at the end of the day we shall come out victorious.

Penpushing further reports that, the council boss, Hon Abiodun Somoye in his response expressed appreciation to the musicians, as he noted that government cannot do it alone and ‘I can also tell you that vaccine, is the solution to this problem’.

;If we adhere strictly to laid down rules and guide, this thing only thrive when we do not, but when we guide ourselves by covering our face and maintaining social distance we will eliminate the virus in our midst’, Somoye emphasied.

‘So the solution to this problem is basically in our hands. And by complying with all the laid down rules We are grateful to God we don’t have any case at all. That’s why every week we sensitize our people every Wednesday’, he said.

‘I want to appreciate the governor for his proactiveness, he fought covid-19 to a certain degree, however, our economy cannot be lockdown, so it means that all hands must be on deck. Most people that rely on daily income to feed, we have to join hands together’

Penpushing also reports that, the team took the campaign to the popular Omida market,in Abeokuta where they distributed facemasks to the traders, and encouraged them to adhere strictly to the guidelines and protocols of coronavirus.

The Iyaloja of the market, Chief(Mrs) Rebecca Atoke Shomefun, in her remarks said the traders were cautious of the virus, and the authorities therefore put necessary measures in the market to guide against the disease.

Penpushing reports that, she government has equally being encouraged the traders  ‘to wash our hands, use face masks, using of sanitisers and we are complying, all the instructions and guidelines the government told us we are doing it.

‘We have a place where we wash our hands and we have it outside, we have soap to wash our hands and sanitisers. One club has given us bowl for washing hands, soap and sanitisers to use. I have prayed that it won’t get to us and those that have contacted it, the Almighty God will heal them. We are just hearing it, the Almighty God will not allow us to see it’,Shomefun said.

Penpushing further reports that, the market leadership called on the government to help them complete what the former Governor couldn’t complete in the  shops, pointing out that, all culverts are full with defecation and grasses, stressing that, clean environment prevent diseases..
