Nigerian journalists save Nigeria from extinction, says Iyalode Alaba Lawson

The Iyalode of Yorubaland,  Iyalode  Alaba Lawson has admitted the roles of journalists in nation building, emphasizing that Nigeria media has contributed immensely towards the positive growth of Nigeria, and the country’s continued existence.

Penpushing reports that, Lawson made this known during a media parley held at her private residence in Abeokuta, ahead of her 70th birthday anniversary scheduled to hold on January 18, 2020

“Coming closer to the journalists since 1982 when I was appointed the matron before finally appointed the grand matron of the Ogun NUJ has been of tremendous support to all my endeavors;, she said

“As a matter of fact, if not for the journalists, Nigeria wouldn’t be where it is today. You people have done so well to expose so many things even with some sacrificing their lives. Even during the thick crisis in Nigeria, when they switched off the lights at the airport to bring in someone into the country. If not for journalists, how would we have known”? she said

Penpushing further reports that, the first female National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), pointed out that for any business to thrive, the role of the media cannot be over-emphasized.

The grand matron of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council speaking on her life at 70, attributed her success story to grace of God, adding that she would remain grateful to her creator

“It’s the grace of God and nothing else. There is no ‘no’ in my dictionary. With God, all things are possible, whatever I want in life, I go for it. I listen to my inner being and once I do that, I don’t get it wrong,” she said.

Penpushing also reports that, the community leader who was recently conferred with ;Amazing Award’ by Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, equally charged women in politics to be bold, strong and take their rightful positions in the leadership of the country, and avoid  turning themselves to subject of ridicule.

The educationist  disclosed that, book titled ‘The untold story of Alaba Lawson’ with the foreword written by the former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, as well as a photobook  will be launched, as part of the ceremony marking her  birthday anniversary  at Marque event centre located at Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library(OOPL), Abeokuta.

Penpushing reports that, Lawson disclosed that the authors of the books include: Olufunke Fadugba, Dr Kayode Bowale, Mr Emmanuel Ukpan and Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji
