A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Unique Granma Sisters Forum, comprising Nigerian grandmothers on Saturday gave support to the children who are residents of Stella Obasanjo Children’s Home located within Government Reservation Area (GRA), Ibara, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.

‘We came to offer the gifts as our own way to compliment government efforts, to show the children love, to let them know granmas cares, so that they will still know there is still hope for them’, Soyemi stated.

Penpushing also reports that the profile of the forum stated that  the organisation saw need to bring together Grandmothers from different parts of the world who are mostly retired and have a need to fill in the gap created by their retirement or reduced activities as they age gracefully.

The profile equally disclosed that the aim of the group is to create activities that will engage members in different areas of life in terms of social interactions and serving humanity.

‘There are various activities and programs that our group has developed to impact on the lives of the less privileged in the society. We have eleven zones all over the world including US and UK and we are visiting this children’s home today, 15th July 2023, to make donations of items that will make life easy for the children’, the profile reads

‘We really haven’t had challenges so to say except that we are restricted by traveling around because of our age due to security issues in our country so we stay within our area of living. We definitely haven’t reached our vision to reach the unreached but we are determined to create programs that will continue to impact on the communities around us and the society at large’, it added.

Penpushing reports that the profile said the organization is restricted to grandmas alone, adding that the only criteria to join is that members must be a grandmother irrespective of  age, and that the future goal is to continue to impact on the lives of others around them.

‘Our organization is restricted to Grandmas alone. The only criteria to join is that you must be a Grandmother irrespective of your age. Our future goal is to continue to impact on the lives of others around us and to keep on aging gracefully by engaging in different social activities that will make us fit and healthy’, profile emphasised.

‘We shall contribute our quota as grandmothers to make sure our communities are free of thuggery, drugs addiction and abuse, poverty, hunger and insecurity by bringing out different programs that can have positive impact on our communities especially our children and grandchildren’,it added.
