The Niger State Government on Wednesday ordered immediate closure of boarding schools in four local government areas in the state, following the abduction of 27 students of Government Science College Kagara, some staffers of the school and members of their families.
Penpushing reports that, Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello gave the directive in a broadcast at the Government House, while the boarding shut are located in Rafi,Mariga,Munya and Shinroro local government areas
The Governor said all options would be explored to ensure the release of all the abducted persons, declaring that the state government would not pay ransom, stressing that it is not the policy of the government to do so.
Penpushing further reports that, gunmen alleged to have dress in military attire had stormed the Government Science College, Kagara, Niger State Tuesday night and abducted number of students and staffers.
The President Muhammadu Buhari, as at the time of filing this report has ordered security agencies to secure the immediate release of the kidnapped persons, while it is on record that Governor Sani-Bello had on several occasions complained about the influx of bandits from different parts of the country into Niger State.
Penpushing also reports that, Sani-Bello urged the President to come to the rescue of the state over the dire security situation that is also being witnessed across the country.
