Slain Remo Stars football club Player’s Mother wants him immortalised

The mother of late Remo Stars Football Club Assistant Captain, Kazeem Tiamiyu,  Mrs Tiamiyu has appealed to both Federal and Ogun State Government to Immortalize him, as a mark of honour for his commitment to development of football.

Penpushing reports that, the bereaved mother made the appeal while receiving the delegation from Ogun State Ministry of Youth and Sports, led  by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Olayiwola Abiodun during a condolence visit to the parents of the deceased at their residence in Sagamu.

The woman, described her deceased son as a very hardworking, humble, promising star and a lover of sport, who was passionate and devoted his life to football, saying immortalising him would help keep his memory alive.

The Permanent Secretary earlier in his remarks, said the delegation sympathised with the deceased family on the painful demise of the young footballer, describing the incidence as unfortunate, while encouraging the family to take solace of his good deeds and show of support from people of the state and beyond.

The delegation leader while praying for the reposed of the soul of the deceased, asked God to grant the family, the people of Remoland and the entire State the fortitude to bear the loss, assuring that thorough investigation would be carried out and justice would take its cause.

Penpushing further reports that, it is recalled that  the footballer popularly called Kaka was allegedly killed by team of the now disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) who arrested him over alleged possession of military attire

The Remo Stars Football Club (RSFC) Club Media Manager, Oladimeji Oshode in a statement said the  incident occurred   in Sagamu while he(footballer) was being taken away by the police team along Sagamu area with one of his teammates, Sanni Abubakar.

The Club spokesman said, an eyewitness, said that the officials of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) stopped the footballer to label him a Yahoo Boy and they insisted on taking him to the nearby police station.

“The SARS officer stopped Tiyamiyu Kazeem insisting that he was a Yahoo Boy, he brought out his identity (ID) card to identify himself as a player of Remo Stars FC but the officer insisted on taking him to the nearest police station in Sagamu.”

“Tiyamiyu and Sanni obliged, followed the SARS officers, only for them to notice that they were driving towards Sagamu-Abeokuta Expressway, then the guys questioned to know where  the SARS officers were taking them to, but this prompted them to stop the car and push him (Tiyamiyu) out of the car, whereby an unknowing vehicle knocked him down”,Oshode said

The Media Manager said the victim was immediately rushed to Fakoya Hospital in Sagamu, where it was confirmed dead, adding that, until his death, he was a humble and reliable defender for Remo Stars FC in the ongoing 2019/2020 Nigeria National League (NNL).

The Club described Kaka’s death as irreparable loss, adding that,’this is a great loss to Remo Stars family and the entire football fraternity. May his soul rest in perfect peace and may the Lord help the family to bear the irreparable loss
