MY ADMINISTRATION IS DETERMINED TO SALVAGE EDUCATION SECTOR FROM ITS DOLDRUM – GOVERNOR MAKINDE

The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Education , Prof. Daud Shangodoyin said that, “the problem facing education is multifaceted but we are prepare more than ever before to confront the problems and make this state a model education state to be emulated by others in terms of quality of personnel engaged in academic activities at all level.

“In spite of the limited resource available to the government, we shall ensure the release of your capital grant as approved in the appropriation law to enable you take good care of your facilities because education is the best legacy’.

“Polytechnic system is important to the industrial and technological developments of the nation hence the Polytechnic must not relegated, so we must wake up to save the Polytechnic system from imminent collapse or relegations to state of irrelevance in our own interests.

Penpushing further reports that Makinde noted that the budget recently presented to the State House of Assembly has giving education the highest allocation of 22% so that the state can bounce  back as the leading education state and fountain of knowledge and setting the pace for others.

The Governor, however called on the newly graduands of The Polytechnic, Ibadan to join hands to assist in solving some of the problems hindering the growth of Nigeria, adding “I want to congratulate you and your parents for this well deserve honour because it is not easy passing through any higher institution in this country anymore for there were many thorns on your way before you got to this state but your prayer, determination and doggedness contributed to your success.

Penpushing also reports that, he charged polytechnics in Nigeria to prove their worth as creators of employment opportunity by coming out with training programme that would not only assist the country in developing its technological potentials but also provide opportunities of employment for hundreds of thousands of youth that are unemployed in the country.

The Rector of the institution, Prof. Kazeem Adebiyi in his address, called on all graduands to be a job creator not a job seekers, saying that the institution has trained them not only to make use of their brains but more importantly, their hands due to the nature of their training.

Penpushing reports that, Adebiyi pointed out that there is no doubt that the challenges ahead are immerse in the race to survive in a highly competitive world, especially in Nigeria where the employment market is saturated, but the spirit of tolerance, high moral standard and dedication to duty which the school has added to their academic pursuit will definitely see them through their future endevour.

“Be of good ambassador of the institution, the diploma you are receiving today should make you proud of your years of training and remember that there is no inferiority in you except that which you allowed.”

Penpushing further reports that Adebiyi pointed out that the graduation ceremony is to crown the efforts of the graduands after a successful and hardworking academics exercise, adding that the ceremony was a gesture to celebrate the students and appreciate their parents, guardians and well-wishers for the support given to their children and wards towards the attainment of their goal.

“Welfare of the students is very paramount to the management of the institution because the management has always put welfare and discipline of staff and students on the front burner of activities on campus, and within the limited resources of the institution, efforts have continuously been made to ensure the comfort of students.”

The Rector appreciated Governor Makinde for his unparalleled love and understanding of the needs for the institution, saying that accreditation would have been stalled if not for the intervention of the governor.

Penpushing also reports that, Adebiyi noted that the Governor has in his magnamity approved and release a whopping sum of  N200,000,000.00) for the institution to prosecute the academic accreditation exercise.
