Computer village robbery: Police arrest three suspects

The Ogun State Command has confirmed arrest of three suspects in robbery incident which occurred at Computer village located in Ibara-Omida axis of Abeokuta on April 12, 2023 resulting in the death of one of the traders identified as Dayo Bankole at the phone market.

Penpushing reports that Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi made this known in a statement on Sunday, adding that as at the time of filing this report the suspects are in custody and being interrogated.

The suspected armed robbers it is recalled had in a day light carried out the operation which saw many residents, customers and passerby including motorists running helter skelter for their lives, while in the process one of the traders was shot dead by the gang and also destroyed number of properties, as well as carting away phones, laptops and other accessories.

Penpushing further reports that the police spokesman gave identities of the suspects as include Ajayi Kayode, Habeeb Idowu and Temitayo Oresanya who were all arrested in the Abule Ake area of Kemta in Abeokuta

The Command Public Relations Officer disclosed that the suspects were arrested following a tip-off to the Kemta divisional headquarters, adding that two of the suspects have confessed their participation in the incident.

Penpushing also reports that the statement said the third suspect, Oresanya, who confirmed to be a member of the same cult group with them, however, claimed that he didn’t participate in the operation, but said the two suspects came to hibernate in his house after the operation

‘The suspects, Ajayi Kayode, Habeeb Idowu, and Temitayo Oresanya were arrested, following information received by policemen attached to Kemta divisional headquarters that the suspects have been hibernating at Abule Ake area of Kemta for quite some time now to evade Police arrest’, Oyeyemi said

“Upon the information, the DPO Kemta division, CSP Adeniyi Adekunle, mobilized his men and moved to the scene where the three suspects were apprehended. Two of the suspects have confessed their participation in the robbery incident, while the third one Temitayo Oresanya, though affirmed to be a member of the same cult group with them, claimed that he didn’t participate in the robbery. He stated further that Ajayi Kayode and Habeeb Idowu came to his house at Abule Ake to hide from the police after the robbery incident”

Penpushing reports that the statement added that the Commissioner of Police, Olanrewaju Oladimeji, commended members of the public for giving useful information to the police, and ordered the transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Departments (CIID) for discreet investigation, as well as directive to track down other members of the gang still on the run
