Minors kidnap underage, collect N50, 000 ransom

The Yobe State Police Command has arrested two minors, whose ages are 12 and 14 respectively for allegedly kidnapping a three-year-old boy in Potiskum, Yobe State, after the suspects collected N50,000 ransom.

Penpushing reports that the Command Public Relations Officer, Dungus Abdulkarim, made this known in a statement on Tuesday, adding that the third suspect is still on the run as at the time of filing this report

“The victim, aged three, was kidnapped and later released by his assailants after they collected N50,000 ransom. The police apprehended two principal suspects. The first one is 14-years-old while the second suspect is aged 12. The third suspect is on the run’ Abdulkarim said.

Penpushing further reports that, the police spokesman said the police have begun an investigation into the matter, stressing that as at the time of this report frantic efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect

The command said in another development, at about 7 a.m. on Friday, one Nafisa Saleh was reported to have been abducted on her way to the specialist hospital, Damaturu, for antenatal, the victim who was later discovered to be behind her abduction for ransom from her husband.

“Investigation later revealed that Saleh, the presumed victim, turned out to be the mastermind of her own abduction for ransom from her husband and family members,” he said.

Penpushing also reports that, the Commissioner of Police, Yahaya Abubakar, in reaction to the development urged members of the public to report all criminal activities and cooperate with security agencies at at all times
