Minister Salako advocates use of compressed natural gas vehicles to curb emission

The Minister of State for Environment, Dr.  Adekunle Salako has advocated for the use of electric and compressed natural gas vehicles to reduce emissions and achieve clean energy in the country, considered as environment friendly vehicles.

Penpushing report that Salako   made this known when the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Sector Command led by the Sector Commandant, Corp Commander Chorrie Isah Muta’a and his team paid an official working visit to the Minister in his Office in Abuja.

The Minister reiterated that emission from vehicles is one of the major challenges of ensuring a secured and sustainable environment, adding that vehicles must be in good working condition in order to maintain minimal level of emission.

Penpushing further reports that Salako, a frontline member of Penpushing platform emphasized that to achieve this ,he tasked the commission to double its effort in the creation of awareness as well as educate and caution motorists accordingly.

The Minister assured the Corp Commandant that his Ministry is committed to collaborate with the commission to ensure safety on the roads by ensuring timely dissemination on bad weather conditions which may have adverse effects on motorists.

Penpushing also reports that the Sector Commander, earlier in his speech noted that the courtesy visit to the ministry was important for effective collaboration, emphasizing that environmental issues contribute a lot to their organization.

The Commander noted that for the agency to educate and inform the road users and the general public on weather conditions, flood areas, the Ministry of Environment and its agencies are very crucial to Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) in order to achieve its mandate.

Penpushing reports that he pointed out that the three, common causes of accidents on the road includes human, environmental and mechanical factors; explaining that the environmental factor is one of the causes of road accidents which necessitated the commission to partner with the Ministry and its agencies for achieving the mandate of the commission.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) boss used opportunity of the visit to congratulate the Minister, on his appointment as Minister of State for Environment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration.
