Man allegedly kills ‘sugar mummy,’ steals car

A 22-year-old man Chidubem Osuagwu has been arrested by the Enugu State Police Command for allegedly killing his 32-year-old female lover in Meniru, Awkunanaw, a community in Enugu South Local Government Area of the state.

Penpushing reports that, the Command Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, who confirmed this in a statement said the suspect allegedly killed the victim, Amarachi Chukwu, in her residence in the area on  November 1, 2022.

The police spokesperson disclosed that investigation revealed that the suspect and others, now at large, had in the morning of the said day conspired and went to the house of the victim, adding that on arrival at the victim’s house, the gang attempted to rob her of her Toyota Corolla, but she resisted.

Penpushing further reports that, upon resistance of the lady, the gang tied her hands, legs and mouth with clothes; locked her inside of the house and made away with the car, adding that the decomposing body of the victim was found in the apartment on 4 November.

The statement the discovery of the corpse was made after the door was forced open by police operatives, following a report that an offensive odour said to be oozing out of the apartment, explaining that, the operatives thereafter evacuated the remains to the hospital, and later deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

Penpushing also reports that, Ndukwe said, the suspect, was arrested on Thursday at Nekede, Owerri, the Imo State capital while he was attempting to sell the Toyota Corolla car, which he allegedly stole from the victim.

The Command Public Relations Officer said the suspect’s arrest was carried out by detectives serving in the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department in collaboration with operatives from the police in Imo State.

Penpushing reports that, the police spokesperson disclosed in the statement that  the suspect had been arraigned after police investigation, and was subsequently, remanded the suspect in prison, by the court pending further hearing of the case.
