Maina’s son, facing corruption trial flees to America
The son of Abdulrasheed Maina, former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reformed Task Team (PRTT), Faisal Maina who is being prosecuted on three counts of money laundering has fled to the United States of America (USA).
Penpushing reports that, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which arraigned the accused made this known on Thursday to the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he (Maina) is being tried
The commission’s prosecuting counsel, Mohammed Abubakar, told the court that the agency got information that the accused sneaked to the United States of America (USA) through the Republic of Niger.
Penpushing further reports that, the father, who is former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reformed Task Team (PRTF), is also being prosecuted for separate charges of money laundering at the court.
The former boss of the defunct Pension Reformed Task Team (PRTF), jumped bail last year and was rearrested in Niger Republic, and now facing corruption trial, having being denied bail by the court.
Penpushing also reports that, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC),opening a fresh bail application filed by the senior Maina told the court that the accused, with multiple citizenship, was trying to obtain a fresh passport with which to flee to the America when he was arrested in Niger Republic.
The trial judge, Justice Okon Abang, at the Thursday trial ordered surety of the runaway accused son of former chairman of the defunct Pension Reformed Task Team, Hon Sani Dan-Galadima, to forfeit a property used as a bail bond
Penpushing reports that, the surety is a member of the House of Representatives representing Kaura-Namoda Federal Constituency of Zamfara, and had entered into a N60million bail bond on behalf of runaway accused.
