Lockdown: Alapomu distributes food items to subjects

A prominent traditional ruler in Osun State, Alapomu of Apomu, Oba Kayode Afolabi, has commenced the distribution of food materials in his domain and environs, located in Isokan local government area of the State.

Penpushing reports that, the royal father arranged the donations in conjuction with concern citizens of the ancient town, and meant to provide succour for the needy and vulnerable people as a result of the lockdown induced by the coronavirus.

The monarch while speaking at the event explained that the initiative is also to support the efforts of  the Osun State Government in providing assistance to the poor and needy in the various communities in view of the coronavirus pandemic, stressing, “government alone cannot provide for everyone without support from individuals and groups,”

Penpushing further reports that, the relief Fund Project was initiated by the traditional ruler and a committee set up led by Prof Sina Oladokun, an indigene of Apomu town, while Professor, Lateef Agbaje also serves as the secretary while Waheed Oladejo is in charge of field operations.

The traditional ruler expressed his appreciation to the Asiwaju of Apomuland, members of the committee and those illustrious sons and daughters of Apomu who contributed to making the project a success.

Meanwhile,  the food items distributed include; rice, beans, garri, vegetable oil, and loaves of bread , with the committee seen  supervising the packaging of the relief materials
